First Annual Asian & Pacific Islander Small Business and Housing Resources Fair
When: Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 10 AM – 3 PM
Where: Hamline University Anderson Center (774 Snelling Av N, St Paul, MN 55104)
Registration is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged but not required.
Overview
The purpose of this fair is to connect our Asian & Pacific Islander communities to the resources that can help them start or grow their own business, become a first-time homebuyer, or understand their rights as a renter.
The format of the fair will include vendors from government, nonprofit and financial institutions in the areas of small business, homebuying or renting tabling to promote awareness of their resources they have available to the community in the areas of small business, home buying or renting. Additionally, workshops will be offered concurrently by some of these vendors or experts in these areas.

Fair organizers include: Asian Economic Development Association, CAPI, Hmong American Partnership, Karen Organization of Minnesota, India Association of Minnesota, and Vietnamese American Business Association. Sponsors included the Family Housing Fund.

This is only a general introduction which will include 1) Clarification of the business idea, 2) Evaluation of the entrepreneur’s capacity, 3) Evaluation of the market for the product or service offered, 4) Government regulations and licenses, 5) Cost of opening and cost of operating.
